Life Sentence
Posted by anony on July 18th, 2007 filed in libertyThe loss that Liberty’s family, friends, people that have only met him a couple of times, and those who have only heard about him are suffering is immense and impossible to describe. The grave loss being felt every moment of everyday can never be made up for. Erik Aguirre should receive a life sentence without parol for his evil acts. Only then will he understand what it means to lose a a life. If his acts can take a life then he should lose his life by being sentenced to life without parol. He deliberately failed to stop and prevent Liberty’s death. If he had a little bit of heart he could have prevented it but he didn’t.

to all those that had the pleasure of knowing Liberty does this not go against all that he believed ? The name Liberty has so much meaning that it would leave for many of us to wonder if this is how he would want this to be handeld. Jake has claimned over and over that this website was ment for the friends and family only but he makes this for all to see where he as well as many others have slanderd the people involved why not a private myspace page ???? One more question how are we to believe that someone who was driveing at 15 mph ment to take someones life ??? May Liberty rest in peace and hopefully his friends will honor his legacy.

I take it you are a friend of Mr. Aguirre or the passengers. Meaning you didn’t know Liberty, so don’t you dare presume to ask us if this is how Liberty would want it handled. I, as well as the people I’ve talked to, think constantly about how Liberty would want this to be handled. Anony does not speak for all of us, either. However, in response to your defense of Mr. Aguirre, it doesn’t matter if he meant to take Liberty’s life–he didn’t even stop to help him. Quite to the contrary, he ran him over after knocking him down. This website is not “slandering” Erik Aguirre or the passengers–the majority of the people posting on this site are relating FACTS that they have heard from the news or police. Especially in light of the fact that he did not come forward on his own, it is time for Mr. Aguirre to take responsibility for what he did. Furthermore, his friends need to accept what he did and stop coming onto this site and making excuses for him. While I don’t necessarily believe that Aguirre should get life without parole, I think it’s disgusting that people are coming on here to defend him. Because of Mr. Aguirre, all of us on here have lost a very dear friend. It is incredible to me that people come here and defend someone who hit Liberty with a van, ran him over, then dragged him for many feet, ultimately killing him. What kind of a person could do such a thing? If you want to help your friend, this is not the place for it. As someone suggested before, speak at Mr. Aguirre’s sentencing hearing, but don’t come here to defend him. Our friend is dead because of Mr. Aguirre’s actions, and nobody here is going to be moved by your arguments in favor of this man.

I’ve wondered what he would have done often–the truth is I don’t know. What I do know is that the night Liberty was killed, my husband and I got to the scene of the crime early before the rest of the family did, and we both walked around there back and forth for over an hour, as we did many nights after that–I can’t see how it was an accident–espcially the second time–the layout of the area doesnt allow for it–and also intent can be formed in a split second–it doesnt take hours of thought.

The above-commenting Kevin has been banned from the site.

Erik Aguirre took Liberty’s life in a cruel, brutal way. Liberty is my cousin and his method of handling such an event is something we won’t know. Since Liberty is no longer with us, Erik does not get the compassion that Liberty showed the creatures of the world. Instead, Erik gets the wrath of Liberty’s friends, family and the justice system and most of us are not nearly as forgiving or gentle as Liberty.

To Anony,
We do not know if anything will ever cause Erik Aguirre to “understand what it means to lose a a life,” although I do feel you on wanting justice for Liberty.
To the first commenter Kevin,
The Liberty I knew believed in justice.
And as for your questions, this is not the place for them and it is important for you and for others to see that. Liberty’s friends and family struggle enough without someone like you coming into their lives, so I want to take responsibility for this. Listen up.
“Jake has claimned over and over that this website was ment for the friends and family only but he makes this for all to see where he as well as many others have slanderd the people involved why not a private myspace page ????”
This site was created for very honorable reasons and it continues to grow because of the person that Liberty was. People who loved him represent a much broader spectrum of the population than just those who have myspace accounts. This site was created out of necessity, and it has been continued out of love. And here it stands. I would like to take this moment to commend everyone who has loved Liberty for taking the time to post whatever you have in Liberty’s honor. One candle has truly lit many because of this website.
And if you, “Kevin,” claim that people on this site are slandering the “people involved,” then you need to read the news reports immediately! Quick, go to FOX, CBS, The OC Register, and The SGV Tribune for you should see what THEY have all been saying about these people! Nothing that anyone who loved Liberty has or ever will say on this site could even come close to damaging the names of the “people involved” more than they have already appeared to damage them themselves. And if you REALLY cared about preventing any “slander” then you would have already been in contact with all of these news stations AND with the DA. But instead you decide to come to a memorial site for the victim so that you can pick a small fight anonymously. You have shown yourself to be very weak and foolish.
“One more question how are we to believe that someone who was driveing at 15 mph ment to take someones life ???”
If you are so vehement about your “15 mph” theory then you would have already contacted the DA or Erik Aguirre instead. Liberty’s loved ones will never be able to understand how someone could have possibly done this no matter what speed they were traveling! Nor will we ever be able to understand what could have possibly possessed the other two passengers in the car to act the way that they did! You should be very ashamed of yourself for coming on to this site where you do not belong. This is not the place for these senseless questions, for you, or for anyone else like you.
