Painting for Liberty
Posted by Jen on July 19th, 2007 filed in libertyI have been in contact with a former art professor who suggested that I get giclee prints made of the painting. These prints are very fine quality http://www.gicleeprint.net/abtGclee.shtm, but not cheap. The business that my professor recommended charges $70 for 20 x 24″ prints, $50 for 16 x 20″ prints and $40 for 11 x 14″ prints. They can print smaller sizes too, but the cheapest they will go for these prints is $40.
I would like to make it possible to purchase the best quality prints in whatever size the immediate family would like to have. Have they seen the painting on here? Would they like to have prints of it? How many people in the immediate family would want prints? What sizes would they want? I have some friends who can help me pay for this, but these prints are much more expensive than I had expected so I guess I do need any help that I can get.
If you are reading this and are interested in a print for yourself, it seems I would have to charge you the total cost with tax and shipping. I am also willing to research printing methods that are not as nice, but would be cheaper. And once I get my painting transfered into digital format professionally, I can always send you a copy of the file and you may do with it what you like.
Please contact me at paintforlove@yahoo.com.
Also, I have titled the painting, “Liberty’s Love: The Incarnation of Ahimsa.” I hope that David Lane does not mind me using the title of his post in the name of this painting. It just fits so well to me..

New Era Studios makes them too using a process better than glicée. They are a client of ours. Check them out too.
Lithographs will cost less than glicees. they won’t have the texture of a painting like glicees do but will be equally nice.

Thank you so much again, Deborah! Your have been a great help with this! I’ve researched the differences between giclees and lithographs and learned that giclees are much higher quality than lithographs. However, lithographs are still good quality.

The business I have been talking with will do lithograph prints up to 11 x 17″ in size. These prints would cost $70 for 50, $120 for 100, and $190 for 200.
I think it’s best to buy the giclee prints in 16 x 20″ sizes for the immediate family as gifts and to buy the lithograph prints in 11 x 14″ sizes for the rest of us who want copies. However, I am open to any suggestions that you might have, and I greatly appreciate them. I plan to be making these purchases soon and I will be in touch..
