liberty tree

I think about this a lot, but neglected to post it until now.  Last year at Dia de los Muertos in SF we put up a picture of Liberty at one of the tree altars in the Mission.  We sat there watching the candles burning for a long time and at some point a little kid came up with his dad and said “whoa dad, he looks just like Johnny Depp in (*some movie from a long time ago that I never saw and can’t remember- it was not Pirates of the Caribbean *)”.  I stopped leaking tears thinking how you would get a kick out of that.
